Governing the Invisible: Enterprise AI Beyond the Sandbox

The phase of comfortable AI experimentation is officially over. For modern enterprises, the challenge has dramatically shifted from accessing models to governing, securing, and operating them across highly fragmented ecosystems.

• You Can’t Govern What You Can’t See — CrowdStrike’s Mark Murtagh laid out the chain: see it, control it, protect it, govern it. Three-quarters of employees are using unsanctioned AI, and less than a third of existing tools have their AI capabilities audited.
• Sovereign AI ≠ Secure AI — Patrick McGarry (ServiceNow) was direct: sovereignty is a data jurisdiction concept, security posture is completely separate. Private AI infrastructure solves residency — not cybersecurity.
• Edge AI Governance — Itron’s Anant Raigaga explained why governing edge fleets is a lifecycle problem, not a deployment problem: firmware-grade rigor, automatic rollback on drift, and treating captured devices like “beautiful-looking bricks.”
